A Drive to Forget

Posted by Joel T.
After a sleepless 9 hour flight from Calgary to Frankfurt we are greeted by a lady at Budget rent a car informing us that our reservations that we made for our Mercedes C-class vehicle were destroyed due to every single Budget outlet in Germany was shut down no more than 5 hours before our arrival. After our run in with Budget we madly scrambled to try to find a car and we did quite easily. We then received a Mercedes E-class car from Europcar and set off to the Autobahn! After a few missed turns and some tempers flaring we finally got out of the god forsaken city of Frankfurt with the extreme help of the built in GPS system. Driving at around 160km/h average we were getting passed by Porche and Audi cars that were going no slower than 250km/h. The most stressful time i've had in a vehicle. After more than 24 hours without a second of sleep and on our "no more than 3 hours of driving a day trip" we racked up 5 and a half hours no problem. We have now settled in an exquisite hotel in the resort town of Travemunde and shall now go walk down to the beach where there are literally thousands of German vacationers and retirees.

  1. Hi guys,
Thanks for the pictures. Hope that you've caught up on sleep.
Travemunde looks like a good place to lie back and relax.
