Roots - Japenzin

About an hour's drive south from Peenemunde through the city of Anklum are the small towns of Japenzin and Dennin. They are about a mile apart and similar in size. They both have simple 16th century chuches with adjoining well-kept graveyards. My grandfather was born in Dennin in 1850 and grandmother in Japenzin in 1858. They migrated to North America about 1877 and had 11 children of which my father was one - born in Chicago in 1887.
